A pedometer is a great tool for feedback and motivation. It is always easy to set little goals throughout the day to get a couple hundred "extra" steps in.
Make it a game. Try to the benefit from added activities such as parking far from an entrance, taking the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator, walking or pacing while on the phone and get feedback from the added movement.
In time, the added activity will pay huge benefits in terms of weight loss, looser fitting clothing or drops in sizes, improved fitness, and reduced disease markers. Shoot for over 10,000 steps a day and you'll be way ahead of the game and double the typical number of most people.
Enjoy the new activities.
