Stretch last - but do stretch

In regards to when to stretch - if you are stretching to improve flexibility and your stretching is part of a workout and separate from a yoga class.

Recent research is contrary to many beliefs and current practice. Scientific research studies have shown that stretching prior to working out, during the warm-up period:

1) does not reduce injuries,
2) reduces muscle strength and power, and
3) does not improve athletic performance.

The best time to stretch is at the end of a workout, when the muscles are warm, and after the training & conditioning segment of the workout.
