BRIDGING THE GAP
RESEARCH and PRACTICALITY
Adding aerobic exercise classes to an exercise regimen is an excellent idea. The group dynamic found in the class setting is excellent for motivation, camaraderie, and compliance.
Aerobic classes vary with instructor or activity. From Step to Hi-Lo to Hip-hop to spinning - there are dozens of aerobic classes available at most gyms and health clubs. If you throw in yoga, Pilates, gentle-stretch, etc. the list goes on and on.
There are classes ranging from low- to extremely-high intensity.
To avoid injury, and potential burnout, start slowly. Select a low-intensity yoga, Pilates, or stretch class to include with or to substitute for low intensity training or active recovery if you enjoy a class setting over solitude.
