Nutrients to focus on

There are only a select few which are truly critical to focus on.

Limiting saturated fat and eliminating trans fats (hydrogenated vegetable oils) are critical to improved health and to weight loss.

Protein, in appropriate amounts for your activity level, is critical for growth, maintenance, repair, immune function, and health. One nutrient you want to keep high is fiber. Not only does it help in fighting disease but also helps to keep you full and satiated.

Unfortunately, many foods haven't been analyzed for their omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acid content, nor their omega-3 to omega-6 ratio. This doesn't do anyone trying to watch their weight much good.

In general, most fish have a favorable n-3:n-6 ratio - even if not precisely known. Both omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are present in high quantities in fish.

One last note - be careful what you say since "your ears are listening". Your comments, whether written or verbal go into your subconscious and in time your mind doesn't know whether you or someone else made the statements - only that the statement exists. You are no "dummy".

Health, nutrition, and science are very much like a foreign language. When learning something new it takes time and vigilance to learn and integrate.
